It is time to find out what places a local would recommend in one of my favourite places - Nepal. Recommendations are from Santosh who was our tour guide to Everest Base Camp, check out his website for more information about Nepal:

Nepal is a nation filled with delightful and beautiful destinations and its beauty is defined by various mountains, lakes, glaciers, caves and some more. The marvelous beautiful scene of Himalayas of Nepal isn't just remarkable, it offers a once in a lifetime experience.

There are many beautiful destinations in Nepal and selecting only the top 10 is very difficult, however here are some famous and most beautiful destinations of Nepal:

1. Everest Base Camp

A tour to the lap of the highest peak of the world, known to everybody, would absolutely satisfy a desire inside an adventurous being. Amazing views of mountains and rivers, trekking through the rhododendron forest and snowy land, meeting animals and people on foot carrying large items (there are no roads) – it is an amazing adventure. You can experience the thrill of one of the world´s most dangerous airports in Lukla – although, it is not as bad as it sounds. It is also a possibility to experience the richness of the culture of Sherpa. Be prepared for altitude (your guides will take care of you and be cautious). You don´t have to be very fit but be ready for lots of walking. It is an amazing experience of pushing yourself.

2. Pokhara

Pokhara is known as one of the best tourist areas in Nepal. The city of lakes (Phewa Lake, Begnas Lake) and caves (Mahendra cave) is also well known for adventurous activities like paragliding or recently lunched hot air ballooning. It is 200 km away from Kathmandu and is one of the loveliest areas in Nepal. Devi's fall is an absolute must-visit place in Pokhara.

3. Annapurna Base Camp

It is a short, amazing and thrilling trek with the snowy peeks in the height of 4130 m. The trek includes a walk through the beauty of mountains welcoming the culture of the local people. A wide assortment of greenery could be seen throughout the whole trip. The fascinating part of the trek is that it starts and finishes in Pokhara - the city well known all over Nepal for its beauty of lakes and caves. The best time for this tour would be March to May for the view on blooming rhododendron, or mid-September to November with a clear cold sky.

4. Rara Lake Rara Lake is named as the greatest lake of Nepal. The Lake lies in the Karnali zone. It lies above 2972 m from the ocean level. It is said that Rara Lake changes its face as the color of water changes according to the time of day. In spite of the fact that the route is unpleasant, nature guarantees satisfaction in the visitors with a beautiful view of mountains, hills and the lake simultaneously. It is well known for the 'Asala' fish. Look out for the reflection of the mountains like Mount Kanjirowa in the lake. Close to Rara Lake, lies beautiful Rara national park.

5. Upper Mustang

The second least populated area of Nepal, Mustang has an amazing scene to offer. The culture associated with this area is often compared with Tibetan culture. The trekking around this area was officially permitted in 1992 after a long time of restrictions. Indeed, even in the storm seasons, the territory is noted as one of the best trekking area in Nepal. The destination is reached through Jomsom which is surrounded by a wonderful cold environment. The attractions in this area are the snowy mountains and the cultural diversities of the local people. The area is also famous for various kinds of apples and dried apples.
